White Remembered for Tireless Dedication to Chatham

From “Letters to the Editor,” The Star-Tribune, Chatham, Virginia, November 19, 2003. Used with permission.

To the editor,

As a former resident of Chatham, Virginia, now residing in Greensboro, North Carolina, I felt the need to write to express my condolences over the loss of long-time town employee Joe White.

I remember as a child seeing Mr. White all over town doing whatever was needed of him seven days a week.

His tireless dedication to the town should never be forgotten and I would like to raise the idea of naming a town park or some type of monument after him so that future generations of Chatham citizens will know it is people like him that make our “hometown” so special.
