The caption as written by Preston Moses is: “Just before Christmas … wide-eyed wonder and delight are seen in the bright eyes of Carol Mitchell, 25 months old, and Linda Yeatts, 21 months old, as they do a bit of pre-Christmas looking around at Mitchell's 5¢ and 10¢ Store. Carol, left, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mitchell, and Linda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Yeatts … both of Chatham.”

Beaver stands at the far left of the photograph; his wife Reba is driving their red 1949 Plymouth convertible, representing Chatham's Maude Clement Garden Club in the parade. The Beavers' daughter Patricia (Mitchell) is on the left in the back seat; Terry Overbey (Stafford) is in the right in the back seat. (Identification of other persons in the photograph is welcomed!) The caption as written by Preston Moses is: “The high school representatives who will compete for the title of ‘Miss Pittsylvania 1955’ at the Jaycees ‘County Day’ here June 29, pose for the Star-Tribune photographer. Left to right are: Ann Berger representing Climax High, Elsie Adkins for Chatham High, Betty Taylor for Spring Garden High, Peggy Welsh for Brosville High, Carolyn Stowe for Whitmell High, Charlene Goad for Dan River High, Sally Reynolds for Callands High. The Grena representative was not present when the picture was made and Renan does not have an entry. The beauty contestants were selected by their high schools to enter the event which will be staged by the Junior Chamber as part of the program for County Day. It was announced that Miss Joan Reynolds, who has held a number of beauty titles, will present the crown to the winner of the 1955 beauty crown.”
