Mildred Hathaway
RICHMOND — Mildred New Hathaway, 74, of 2513 Eagles View Court, Richmond, and formerly of Danville, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond. Born in Georgia on September 09, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Roy Johnson and Lila Frances Almond Johnson. She was married to William “Bill” Hathaway, who survives her of the residence.
She was a graduate of Schoolfield High School and Averett College. She had worked as a registered nurse at Danville Regional Medical Center before retiring in 1998. She had a decline in health for the past four months. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Katheryne Terry and her husband, Dave Terry, of Richmond, and one sister, Marie Cook, of Chatham; also, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Peni Ray.
Graveside services for Mrs. Hathaway will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Kyser officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA, 24541.
