Ronald Monroe Shelton, age 63, of 1401 Snake Path Road, Blairs, Virginia, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at his residence after a brave battle with lung cancer. He was born on June 13, 1946, in Pittsylvania County; He was the son of the late Monroe Shelton and the late Dorothy Haskins Shelton Powell.
He was U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and a member of Chatham Baptist Church.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Vickie Towler Shelton of the residence. He is also survived by one daughter, Mona S. Roach of Dry Fork; two sisters, Joan D. Shelton and Jane S. Lewis both of Blairs; two grandchildren, Heather Lynn Roach and her friend Robert McCann and Chad Lee Roach; two step sisters, Clara P. Cooper and Dawne P. Shelton both of Chatham, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Ann Edwards and Kay Shelton; two brothers, Robert Lee Shelton and Daniel Ray Shelton.
Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM with the Minister Lee Ashley, officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM and at other times will be at the residence.
