Koyeton Hodge Beavers, Jr.

Danville, VA — Koyeton Hodge Beavers, Jr., 77, of 704 Bradley Road, Danville, died Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at his residence.

Born June 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Koyeton H. Beavers and the late Hattie Mitchell Beavers.

He was a 1947 graduate of John M. Langston High School and a 1951 graduate of West Virginia State Institute, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He owned Beavers Grocery Store #1.

He was a member of Holbrook Street Presbyterian Church; served as a representative of the Blairs District on the Pittsylvania County School Board; and was a member of the First State Bank Board of Directors, Blairs Voters League, and the NAACP.

He was married 54 years to Muriel Taylor Beavers, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Shirley Cunningham, Edwina B. Ransom, and Rhonda B. Chandler, all of Danville, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Cotober 21, at Holbrook Street Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Thurman Echols officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver's Family Farm.

The family will receive friends at L. H. Brooks and Brothers Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 704 Bradley Road.
